Meta’s AI assistant, Muse, reached 10.2 million downloads in the United States within 40 days of its September launch. This achievement places the app among only 12 mobile applications to hit such a milestone in that timeframe, according to Sensor Tower data.

The company is aggressively promoting the tool across its ecosystem, which serves 3.6 billion daily active users. In October, Meta directed 39% of its total advertising budget toward Muse, compared to 23% in September. The app currently ranks 21st in the U.S. by ad impressions.

User retention for Muse outperforms competitors like ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. Muse maintains a 30% retention rate after 7 days and 23% after 14 days, while rivals average 19% and 16% respectively. On October 16, daily active users reached 2.5 million.

In its first 40 days, Muse secured 10.2 million U.S. downloads, significantly outpacing ChatGPT at 3.7 million, Grok at 500,000, and Claude at 200,000. While ChatGPT reached 15 million global downloads in the same period, it benefited from a wider international release.
