Meta has confirmed that it will not purchase new chips from Microsoft to support its autonomous AI agent, Muse. The company maintains a multi-vendor hardware strategy, relying on partnerships with firms such as AMD and Nvidia to meet the infrastructure demands of its new product.

Muse, which launched on September 8, 2026, functions as an autonomous agent capable of managing emails, booking travel, and completing forms. The service operates within persistent cloud virtual machines, requiring significant CPU resources for orchestration and maintenance alongside GPU support for model inference.

The release of Muse has impacted the semiconductor market. Following the launch, AMD briefly reached a market capitalization of $1 trillion. Additionally, Intel shares increased by 12% between September 22 and 23, 2026, while Arm shares rose by 17% during the same period.
