Meta launched its personal AI agent app, Muse, on September 8, 2026. The tool is designed to perform multi-step tasks, such as browsing retail sites and completing purchases. Within its first two weeks, the application reached between 2.5 and 2.8 million downloads in the United States, securing a top position on the App Store.

On September 23, Meta announced partnerships with Walmart, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, and Best Buy. To facilitate these transactions, the app supports three payment methods: Stripe Link, Shopify Shop Pay, and PayPal. All tasks are executed within a sandboxed environment called Muse Secure VM to ensure user security.

The company offers a free access tier alongside paid subscriptions priced at $20 and $100. Meta plans to monetize the agent primarily through small per-transaction fees. While the service is expanding, Amazon has blocked Muse from accessing its platform, citing concerns regarding credential security and user consent.

Meta intends to integrate additional shopping connectors and payment options in the future. This shift toward transaction-based revenue represents a strategic change for the company, moving beyond its traditional advertising-focused business model.
