Meta has officially launched a dedicated enterprise AI division, aiming to diversify its revenue beyond advertising. To lead this initiative, the company hired Chirantan 'CJ' Desai, who resigned from his position as President and CEO of MongoDB on September 28, 2026.

The company's commitment to AI is reflected in its revised capital expenditure guidance for 2026, which has been increased to $130 billion from the previously projected $125 billion. This additional spending is primarily allocated to the development of AI infrastructure.

Meta has been actively expanding its AI product suite. In June 2026, the company introduced Business Agent features for WhatsApp and Messenger to automate customer interactions. Furthermore, on September 22, 2026, it launched the Muse Code beta, a coding agent built on the Muse Spark model.

Following the departure of Desai, MongoDB appointed its former CEO, Dev Ittycheria, as interim leader to maintain operational stability. Prior to his tenure at MongoDB, which began in November 2025, Desai held leadership roles in product and engineering at Cloudflare and ServiceNow.
