Meta is reportedly developing a new model of smart glasses, internally referred to as Luna, which will not feature an integrated camera. This decision follows public criticism regarding privacy concerns associated with the company's existing camera-equipped wearable devices.
The Luna glasses will focus on voice interaction, featuring six built-in microphones. Users will be able to communicate with the company's AI chatbot and its consumer agent, Muse, by pressing a dedicated button located on the side of the frame.
The new device could be officially introduced as early as next week during the Meta Connect event. Despite the growth of the smart glasses market, Meta's Reality Labs division continues to report significant financial losses, as indicated in the April earnings report.
