Meta has acquired Sundial, an AI-powered data analytics platform founded in 2021 by former Meta executives Chandra Narayanan and Julie Zhuo. The startup specialized in self-service analytics tools for businesses, utilizing AI, contextual data, and expert playbooks to streamline decision-making.
The startup raised a total of $23 million in funding, including a $16 million Series A round in July 2025 led by DJ Patil of GPV. Other notable investors included Sequoia Capital. In April 2026, the company joined the Snowflake-led Open Semantic Interchange initiative.
Following the acquisition, announced on October 23, 2026, Sundial will cease to operate as a standalone product. Instead, it will be integrated into a new internal data analytics organization at Meta, which is headed by Alex Schultz.
