The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 30,064 vehicles. The recall addresses a defect in the front brake hoses, which may rupture and cause brake fluid leaks. This issue can lead to increased stopping distances and a higher risk of collisions.
The affected models include various 2022-2025 S 500 4MATIC, Maybach S 580 4MATIC, and Maybach S 680 4MATIC units. Additionally, the recall covers specific 2023-2025 S 580 E 4MATIC vehicles and 2024-2025 AMG S 63 E 4MATIC+ models.
While the vehicles feature a dual-circuit braking system, a failure in one line significantly degrades overall braking performance. Drivers will not receive warnings until the fluid loss reaches a specific threshold, at which point a red brake fluid warning light will appear on the dashboard.
Mercedes-Benz dealerships have received technical service instructions to replace the front brake hoses on both sides at no cost to owners. The company plans to send official recall notification letters to affected customers by November 27, 2026.
