Mercedes-Benz is initiating a recall of 30,064 vehicles in the United States due to a potential defect in the front brake hoses. The issue involves hoses that may weaken, leak, or rupture over time because of heat and mechanical stress, which can lead to increased stopping distances.
The recall affects specific S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and Mercedes-AMG sedans produced between February 2021 and late November 2024, covering the 2022 through 2025 model years. The largest affected group consists of 16,881 units of the S580 4Matic, followed by 7,143 S500 4Matic sedans and 2,277 S580 e 4Matic plug-in hybrids.
Additional models included in the campaign are 1,746 AMG S63 E Performance sedans, 1,070 Maybach S680 4Matic vehicles, and 947 Maybach S580 4Matic sedans. Mercedes-Benz reports that it has no knowledge of any crashes, injuries, or property damage related to this specific defect.
The manufacturer updated the hose design in production starting in late November 2024, meaning vehicles built after November 28, 2024, are not affected. Authorized dealers will replace the faulty components free of charge, with owner notification letters scheduled to be sent by November 27, 2026.
