MegaFon has expanded its network capacity in the northern part of Kursk. The operator installed new telecommunications equipment near a major shopping center and upgraded infrastructure on Rosinka Street, which serves a residential complex with approximately 500 residents. Following these technical improvements, data transmission speeds in the area have reached 50 Mbps.
The company reports that the upgrades are driven by rising internet traffic in new residential districts, where many residents work and study remotely. According to MegaFon, regional traffic to online cinemas has increased nearly fivefold since the beginning of the year, while usage of educational resources grew by 30%.
Alexey Postnikov, director of MegaFon in the Kursk region, stated that the company selects 4G frequency combinations based on population density, terrain, and existing base station loads to optimize infrastructure performance. This approach aims to ensure stable connectivity even during peak periods.
Throughout 2026, MegaFon has modernized over 180 telecommunications facilities across the Kursk region. These upgrades have improved internet and voice service quality in cities such as Zheleznogorsk, Fatezh, and Lgov, as well as in several rural settlements including Klyukva, Maloye Gorodkovo, Shumakovo, and the Kirovsky settlement.
