Maximo, a robotics company, announced that its construction robots have successfully completed 300,000 tasks. The latest version 3.0 robots are currently deployed at the Bellefield solar complex, where they assist crews in installing up to 24 solar panel modules per hour, per person.

The company reports that these robot-equipped crews have nearly doubled the output compared to traditional installation methods used at other solar sites in Southern California. The project at the Bellefield field is expected to eventually reach over 1 GW of solar generating capacity.

The robots utilize NVIDIA hardware, including the Isaac Sim simulation framework and Omniverse libraries, to test capabilities before field deployment. Amazon Web Services provides the infrastructure for development, automated software delivery, and real-time data analytics for the robotic fleet.

Maximo plans to expand the use of its robots beyond solar installations. Future applications may include site logistics, cleanup, and other construction tasks involving pick-and-place or feeding and attaching movements to address labor shortages in the industry.
