Maven Robotics has emerged from stealth mode, announcing a $100 million funding round led by RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures, and XTX Markets Ventures. The company plans to manufacture 250 units of its third-generation robots and initiate the design of a fourth-generation platform.
Founded in 2024 by CEO Hamza Derbas and CFO Khalid Derbas, the startup focuses on mixed palletizing in distribution centers. The robots operate on wheeled bases, travel at 10 miles per hour, and feature two arms capable of lifting up to 30 kilograms. Currently, the company reports having eight robots in operation with 99% uptime.
The firm differentiates itself from competitors like Agility by prioritizing industrial ROI over complex designs. Maven utilizes data pipelines derived from autonomous vehicle technology to retrain its systems. The company aims to expand its capabilities through a task-by-task approach, targeting the palletization market estimated at $80 billion.
The team leverages industrial engineering experience, with the founders previously working at Apple and in private equity. To improve robotic manipulation, Maven has developed specialized pincer-like gloves that allow humans to emulate desired gripper movements, facilitating data collection for future automation tasks.
