The MausStudio project, developed by the 3D printing team Unskilled Design, aims to provide users with tools to design and 3D print custom gaming mouse shells. The software is currently in the development phase, with no official release date or business model confirmed by the creators.
To begin the design process, users import an STL file of their existing mouse PCB. The software requires users to calibrate the positions of critical hardware components, including screw holes, microswitches, the scroll wheel, and the sensor. Once these parameters are set, the system generates a compatible shell model.
MausStudio offers extensive customization options, such as adjusting the mouse dimensions, modifying the arch position, and choosing between lightweight or solid base structures. Users can also incorporate honeycomb patterns to reduce weight, configure battery placement, and adjust side button layouts for left-handed use.
Developer Bastian clarified that the tool relies on mathematical algorithms and parametric modeling rather than generative artificial intelligence. This approach ensures that the resulting 3D models are engineering-grade designs that precisely fit the specified hardware components and dimensions.
