UK logistics firm Maritime Transport has expanded its electric heavy goods vehicle fleet by adding five Renault Trucks E-Tech T 4x2 tractor units. This acquisition, part of the eFREIGHT 2030 project, brings the company's total electric fleet to 56 vehicles, meeting its year-end target across 12 depots and rail terminals.
The 42-tonne trucks operate from Wakefield and Avonmouth depots, primarily handling first- and last-mile container transport from inland rail terminals. The vehicles feature six 90 kWh battery packs and three electric motors, delivering 490 kW of continuous power and 2,400 Nm of torque. They offer a range of up to 300 km per charge.
Maritime Transport is testing electric trucks from various manufacturers to evaluate performance, reliability, and maintenance requirements. The company utilizes the Optifleet system to monitor operational data, including efficiency and driver behavior. Future fleet decisions will depend on long-term metrics like battery degradation and residual value.
