In late October, the author lost access to Claude Code following a mandatory identity verification process. The account was suspended, the paid subscription was canceled, and refund requests were denied. This incident left the author without access to historical project data, architectural decisions, and development logs stored within the Claude Code sessions.

The author attempted to migrate to OpenAI Codex using its built-in import feature. However, the tool is limited to 50 chats from the last 30 days. The migration process proved unsatisfactory, as many sessions were incorrectly mapped to projects, and manual cleanup was required to organize the imported data.

To solve the problem of data portability between AI agents, the author adopted Hansard. Unlike direct migration tools, Hansard creates a centralized archive that allows various agents to access context without converting formats. It supports tools including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Kimi Code, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Aider, and Cline.

Hansard provides features such as cross-session search, memory management, and project visualization. It includes a GUI for Windows and macOS, as well as a CLI for Windows, Linux, and macOS. The tool allows users to integrate search capabilities into agents via the recall command, enabling them to retrieve historical context during active development.
