London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has entered into an agreement to acquire credit intelligence provider Octus for $3.535 billion. The transaction is slated to close in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval.

Octus currently serves 750 customers and over 40,000 users. The company specializes in converting complex credit documents into searchable data and is projected to generate over $300 million in revenue this year.

Separately, Summit Partners led a $40 million investment in Cognitive Credit, a firm providing verified credit models for corporate debt markets. Its client base includes 80% of the world’s 25 largest asset managers.

These investments highlight the growing demand for specialized financial datasets as firms integrate AI into research. LSEG noted that 80% of its AI-related customer agreements involve the purchase of additional datasets.

Research from PYMNTS Intelligence indicates that while 90% to 100% of large companies report some return on AI tools, only 5% to 10% see a full return, suggesting that faster analysis does not automatically reduce costs.
