Lexus has announced that the 2027 NX crossover will exclusively offer hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, completely phasing out gas-only versions. The updated lineup, unveiled on October 20, 2026, features four trim levels: Premium, Premium+, F Sport, and Luxury.
The updated NX models utilize a new e-Axle system that integrates the transaxle, motor, and power control unit into a single, lighter assembly. Additionally, the inverter now incorporates silicon carbide semiconductors to reduce electrical losses.
The NX 350h hybrid now delivers a combined output of 244 horsepower. The NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid features a redesigned lithium-ion battery pack, providing an 8 percent increase in output and capacity, resulting in a total system output of 324 horsepower.
Lexus estimates the electric-only range for the plug-in hybrid model at approximately 40 miles. The vehicle also features a reinforced chassis, a 14.0-inch standard touchscreen, and the Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 suite as standard equipment.
Production of the NX 350h takes place at facilities in Ontario, Canada, and Kyushu, Japan, while the NX 450h+ is manufactured exclusively in Kyushu. Pricing details for the 2027 model year will be released closer to the market launch.
