On October 16, Leapmotor launched two major initiatives at its Zaragoza facility in Spain. The company began production of its B10 electric crossover and opened a new battery assembly plant. This site will handle the local assembly of battery modules, integrating the supply chain directly within Europe.
The facility has a 43-year history and previously operated under Opel, producing over 10 million vehicles during that time. Leapmotor and Stellantis collaborated to modernize the production lines. The plant now manufactures Leapmotor vehicles alongside existing models like the Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208, and Lancia Ypsilon.
This expansion marks a strategic shift for Leapmotor, moving from importing vehicles from China to localized European production. By utilizing the existing infrastructure of Stellantis, the company aims to improve component supply efficiency and mitigate the impact of import tariffs on finished electric vehicles.
