Italian company LATI has consolidated its range of engineering thermoplastics designed for electric vehicles into a new technical brochure. The catalog includes materials with properties such as flame retardancy, thermal conductivity, EMI shielding, and low friction, alongside recycled-content options.
The HFFR compounds utilize polyamide, PBT, PPA, and PPS matrices to ensure electrical insulation and flame resistance. For high-voltage components, LATI developed formulations that resist color shifting during thermal aging, ensuring the standard orange identification remains visible throughout the vehicle's service life.
The LATICONTHER range achieves thermal conductivity of up to 28 W/mK by dispersing graphite and ceramics within the polymer matrix. These materials allow designers to transfer heat through plastic components, potentially replacing metal parts in specific applications.
LATISHIELD products provide electromagnetic interference shielding by incorporating stainless steel fibers, carbon fibers, and nanotubes. The shielding effectiveness for these materials ranges from 30 to 90 dB. Additionally, the company offers LATILUB grades for friction reduction, including options free from PFAS.
The LATIECO line features materials derived from mechanical and chemical recycling processes. These compounds can integrate multiple functionalities, such as flame retardancy and thermal conductivity, into a single recycled-based product to meet evolving automotive requirements.
