King Charles III hosted a meeting at Blair House in Washington, D.C., on April 28 to discuss artificial intelligence development and investment. The event brought together leaders from major technology firms, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Tim Cook of Apple, and executives from AMD, Salesforce, and Alphabet.
The discussions focused on the challenges facing the UK technology sector, specifically the difficulty university spinouts face in reaching commercial viability. Jensen Huang advocated for the development of a more robust venture capital ecosystem in Britain to support advancements in AI, robotics, and quantum computing.
Nvidia previously committed to investing $42 billion in UK AI infrastructure, a pledge announced in September 2025. This investment aims to address the gap in scaling domestic research, as the UK has historically struggled to retain companies that originate from its academic institutions.
In November 2025, King Charles presented Jensen Huang with the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering at St James’s Palace. During the ceremony, the King emphasized the significance of AI, comparing its potential impact to the discovery of electricity, while also highlighting the need to manage associated risks.
