The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has authorized Kalshi to list perpetual futures contracts for gold and silver. This marks the first time the regulator has approved non-cryptocurrency perpetual contracts for the platform.

Kalshi previously launched crypto-linked perpetual futures in May. Since that time, these instruments have generated $44 billion in notional trading volume. The exchange now plans to expand its offerings to include U.S. equities, copper, and currency contracts.

Demand for commodity-related event contracts has grown significantly. Trading volume for metals and oil event contracts reached $400 million within seven months, achieving this milestone twice as fast as the platform's crypto event contracts.

A federal appeals court recently ruled that Nevada may apply state gambling laws to Kalshi’s sports event contracts. This decision creates a legal conflict with a prior ruling regarding New Jersey, potentially leading to Supreme Court intervention.
