The Office of Justin Sun has announced the latest recipients of the Justin Sun Prize, an initiative supporting mathematics and AI-assisted scientific discovery. The awardees include independent researcher Wouter van Doorn, Ph.D. student Quanyu Tang, and Yanyang Li from Southeast University, recognized for their contributions to solving six Erdős problems.
The researchers utilized AI tools to advance their work. For Erdős Problem #650, the team employed ChatGPT to develop a proof strategy, while the Aristotle system addressed gaps during the formalization process in Lean software. These proofs are designed to be computer-checkable, emphasizing the role of AI in combining human judgment with rigorous verification.
The prize program focuses on mathematical challenges listed in a catalog maintained by Thomas Bloom, which currently contains over 1200 problems. Recipients of the award can choose to receive their prize payouts in either USDT on the TRON network or USDC on the Ethereum blockchain.
Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, established this academic initiative to support formal verification and open-source scientific research. The program maintains a public GitHub repository where information regarding the problem catalog and the contributions of past recipients is available for review.
