Asset manager Janus Henderson and tokenization platform Centrifuge have introduced JQQQ, a blockchain-based fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index on the Stellar network. The fund is designed for professional investors residing outside the United States and provides indirect exposure to the index rather than direct ownership of the underlying stocks.
The fund is structured as a segregated portfolio of an investment company based in the British Virgin Islands. According to reports, the minimum investment requirement for the product is $100 000. This launch marks an expansion of Janus Henderson’s onchain strategy, which now encompasses assets exceeding $1 billion, including US Treasurys and structured credit.
The Stellar blockchain currently hosts approximately $3.8 billion in tokenized assets, ranking fourth among networks by distributed real-world asset value. The platform is also set to integrate with the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, which plans to connect its tokenization service to Stellar in the first half of 2027.
Nasdaq previously expanded the licensing of its Nasdaq-100 Index to other asset managers in April, including BlackRock and State Street. Meanwhile, the native token of the Stellar network, XLM, has experienced a decline of about 16% year to date, trading at approximately $0.17 as of the announcement.
