Irkutsk Aviation Plant has established a production capacity of 36 MS-21 aircraft per year. The company is currently executing an investment program to acquire new equipment for machining and stamping processes, though some tasks were delayed due to funding issues.
The remaining investment projects are scheduled for completion between 2027 and 2029. Once these goals are met, the plant expects to reach its target output of 36 jets annually. Management emphasizes that maintaining a steady production rate is critical for controlling costs and ensuring quality.
CEO Andrey Soynov stated that the facility will not exceed the 36-plane target in the near future. He noted that abrupt changes in production volume pose significant risks to operational stability. By 2027, the plant aims to produce one MS-21 aircraft every 40 days.
The facility is also expanding its internal capabilities, with plans to begin in-house painting of serial MS-21 aircraft starting in early 2027. Additionally, the company has commenced manufacturing parts for a shortened version of the MS-21, with the first flight scheduled for August 2028.
The delivery schedule for major customers remains set, with Aeroflot expected to receive its second batch of MS-21 aircraft in 2029.
