Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan stated earlier this year that the company plans to launch the next-generation Nova Lake processors in the second half of 2026. This timeline remains the official target for the manufacturer despite industry speculation regarding potential delays.
Recent industry activity suggests an approaching release. ASRock Z990 motherboards have appeared in shipping databases with records from Taiwan and Vietnam. Additionally, prototypes of these boards were showcased at Computex, and entries for a new HP EliteBook X featuring an unidentified Intel processor have surfaced in the SiSoftware database.
Motherboard development typically requires four to six months, with an additional two months for distribution. Given that Z990 motherboards were observed in June and shipping manifests appeared in July, hardware partners expect these products to reach retail shelves by October or November.
While some industry rumors suggest a release in the first quarter of 2027, the current evidence, including executive statements and the readiness of motherboard partners, points toward a launch in late 2026. Intel has not released new desktop processors in 2025, following a multi-year annual fall release cadence.
