Intel has released the 0.9 version of its process design kit (PDK) for the 14A node. This release allows customers to begin evaluating the node and initiating trial designs that will be compatible with the final 1.0 version of the kit.

The company expects to launch the final 1.0 version of the 14A PDK in the first quarter of 2027. Intel is currently finalizing specifications and performing adjustments to the node to ensure readiness for upcoming production phases.

Risk production for the 14A node is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027, with high-volume manufacturing expected to follow in 2028. Intel has already processed tens of thousands of 14A wafers during pilot runs.

The 14A node aims to deliver a 15–20% performance increase at the same power level or a 25–35% power reduction at the same performance compared to the 18A node. Additionally, chip density is expected to improve by up to 30%.
