Instinct and Meta's Muse have both introduced features allowing their AI agents to place phone calls. The Instinct Concierge service is currently rolling out in early access, with plans for a broader release. It is designed to handle tasks such as booking restaurants without online reservation systems, managing service cancellations, or resolving billing issues.
Meta has also enabled outbound calling to U.S. businesses for its Muse assistant. The company is prioritizing access for users who specifically requested this functionality. This update follows a series of recent enhancements for Instinct, including the ability to manage account sign-ups via email and a feature that allows agents to interact with other users' assistants within a trusted network.
The market for text-based AI assistants remains highly competitive, with players like Wajo, Town, and Ollie also vying for user attention. Instinct recently raised $350 million at a valuation of $2.5 billion and is reportedly in discussions for a new funding round of $1 billion, which would bring its valuation to $10 billion.
Meta's Muse has demonstrated significant growth, with Sensor Tower reporting over 730,000 downloads in the U.S. during its first five days. This performance surpassed the launch figures of the Meta AI app, which recorded 707,000 downloads in the same period. At one point, the Muse app reached the number two position in top application charts.
