Inspired Capital has successfully closed its fourth fund, securing $450 million in commitments. This latest raise brings the firm’s total assets under management to nearly $1.4 billion. Founded in 2019 by Alexa von Tobel and Penny Pritzker, the New York-based firm continues to expand its capital base.

The firm maintains a consistent investment strategy, backing approximately 10 companies annually. It targets startups ranging from the napkin stage to Series A, with check sizes between $1 million and $15 million. The portfolio is geographically balanced, with 45% of investments on the East Coast, 45% on the West Coast, and 10% elsewhere.

Performance metrics indicate that 12 companies from the firm’s first two funds have achieved unicorn status. Among these, 10 have surpassed $100 million in revenue, four have exceeded $400 million, and one has topped $500 million. The firm has recorded over 10 exits, including the acquisition of MosaicML for $1.3 billion.

Inspired Capital focuses on themes such as physical AI and quantum computing, often backing serial entrepreneurs who represent about one-third of its portfolio. While the firm occasionally utilizes secondaries to increase positions in high-performing companies, it typically retains more than 90% of its ownership stake in its portfolio companies.
