Injective has permanently removed over 7.2 million INJ from circulation. This total includes tokens destroyed through both the current monthly Community BuyBack program and a previous burn auction mechanism.
The monthly program allows participants to commit INJ in exchange for a share of revenue generated by decentralized applications and network activity. Once revenue is distributed, the committed tokens are burned.
During the first four rounds of the updated program, 178,338 INJ were burned. Participants received $776,344 in revenue shares, with average yields ranging from 20% to 25% per round.
To prevent large holders from dominating the events, the protocol enforces caps on commitments per round. Injective directs nearly all of its protocol revenue toward these buybacks rather than to treasuries or development funds.
