Layer-1 blockchain Injective has introduced a perpetual futures market that tracks the rental costs of five Nvidia GPU models. The new Super Intelligence Compute Index allows traders to speculate on AI computing price fluctuations with up to 10x leverage, utilizing USDC as margin.
The index incorporates data from London-based firm LO:TECH and covers the H100, B200, H200, A100, and RTX 4090 chips. The H100 holds a 40% weight in the index, while the B200 accounts for 25%. The data is updated on an hourly basis using a seven-day trailing average of rental prices.
This initiative expands upon a previous market launched in August 2025 that focused solely on H100 rental costs. The platform aims to provide a hedging mechanism for AI developers facing volatile computing expenses and for GPU providers seeking to mitigate risks associated with shifting rental revenues.
The launch occurs amid broader industry concerns regarding the financial viability of specialized AI cloud providers. Research firm Gartner suggests that over 80% of these providers could cease independent operations by 2030, while industry figures like Elon Musk have noted potential consolidation risks for over 200 firms.
