IBM and CoreWeave are collaborating on the development of infrastructure controls for agent workloads. The partnership focuses on managing identity systems and workload isolation as IBM evolves its research practices for the Granite model family.

IBM previously constructed a large H100 cluster independently to meet the power and cooling requirements of new hardware generations. This experience led to the current joint engineering efforts with CoreWeave to refine infrastructure implementation.

The collaboration includes the use of CoreWeave Sandboxes, which provide researchers with options for isolated execution on dedicated infrastructure or via managed serverless runtimes. These tools allow for control over resource access and code execution environments.

IBM evaluates the performance impact of security controls by comparing them against benchmark results. This approach helps the company address security-performance tradeoffs and manage the complexities of provenance across hardware, firmware, and kernel levels.
