In September 2026, Hyundai sales in the US reached 77,439 vehicles, marking a 9% increase and a new record for the month. The Tucson model, despite its upcoming replacement, saw a 32% rise in sales to 23,164 units compared to 17,569 in September 2025. Year-to-date sales for the Tucson reached 181,687 units, a 10% growth, accounting for over a quarter of the brand's total US volume.

The surge in demand for hybrid models was a key driver, with hybrid sales growing by 39% in September and capturing a 28% share of the company's total US sales. Other internal combustion models also performed well: Palisade sales jumped 52% to 10,327 units, Santa Fe increased by 21% to 12,227, and Sonata grew by 39% to 5,156 vehicles.

Conversely, the company's electric vehicle lineup faced a sharp decline. Sales of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 both dropped by 65%, reaching 2,928 and 374 units respectively. The Ioniq 6 saw a near-total collapse in demand, with only three units sold in September 2026 compared to 814 in the same period last year. Analysts attribute this shift to the expiration of federal tax credits and rising fuel prices.
