Hydrosat has introduced a new thermal mid-wave infrared program named Nyktòs. This system is designed to provide high-resolution imagery that complements the company’s existing Osiris constellation, which focuses on wide-swath, lower-resolution data collection.
The Nyktòs capability is intended to serve defense and government sectors, particularly in Europe. It allows for 24/7 monitoring of conflict zones, even in darkness. Hydrosat plans to use the Osiris constellation to detect ground changes, while Nyktòs will provide detailed follow-up imagery.
To support the production of Nyktòs, Hydrosat intends to establish a new manufacturing facility in Europe. The company is currently evaluating potential locations and expects the site to be operational by next year, with the first payloads scheduled for production by 2028.
While the initiative is part of a bid for a contract with the Greek government, Hydrosat aims to expand the use of Nyktòs to global defense, intelligence, and industrial monitoring applications. The company claims its resolution will be competitive with existing market offerings.
