Huawei has officially introduced the HarmonyOS 7 operating system, which features new aesthetic effects including immersive light sensing and particle animations. These visual updates allow icons to leave light trails when dragged and notifications to dissipate as light particles when cleared.
The company has released a compatibility list for these new features. For the Mate 60 series, Mate 70 standard and Air models, as well as Pura 80 and Pura 90 series, users must update to HarmonyOS 7.0.0.105SP10 or higher. The Mate XT 2 supports these features out of the box.
The nova 16 series, nova 15 series, and Huawei Pocket 2 series require an update to HarmonyOS 7.0 or higher. For tablets, the MatePad Pro Max and various other models in the MatePad Pro and MatePad Air lines also require HarmonyOS 7.0 or higher to enable the new visual effects.
Huawei plans to initiate the first wave of HarmonyOS 7 upgrades for a wide range of devices, including the Mate 80, Mate 70, Mate X7, Mate X6, Pura 90, Pura 80, and nova 16 series. The rollout also covers the MatePad Pro Max and MateBook Pro lines.
Older devices, such as the Mate 60 series, Pura 70 series, Mate X5 series, and nova 14 series, are scheduled to receive the HarmonyOS 7 Beta update in October. This phase also includes the MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2023 series and specific nova Flip models.
