Huawei has released the Kirin 9050 Pro processor, which debuted in early September alongside the Mate XT 2 foldable smartphone. According to Bernstein Research, the chip demonstrates performance levels comparable to 4-nm class technologies, despite being manufactured using a process similar to 7-nm standards.
In Geekbench 6 testing, the Kirin 9050 Pro outperformed the Apple A17 Pro in multi-core benchmarks. Analysts attribute this result to architectural improvements implemented by Huawei, noting that the chip effectively manages multi-core computing tasks.
Despite these gains, the Kirin 9050 Pro still lags behind the 2-nm Apple A20 Pro by approximately 30%. Bernstein Research highlights that Huawei has successfully narrowed the technological gap with international competitors, even while utilizing older manufacturing processes.
The Huawei Mate XT 2, which features the new processor, is now available in China. The device is equipped with a 10.2-inch 3K screen, 2 TB of storage, a stylus, and a 100-watt charger. The retail price for the smartphone is set at $4500.
