According to industry leaks, a manufacturer is currently evaluating the use of wide-screen displays for its imaging-focused flagship smartphones scheduled for release in the first half of 2027. Engineering prototypes suggest that while the standard model will retain a 6.6-inch screen, the Pro and Pro Max versions are expected to feature a wide-screen design measuring approximately 6.39 inches.

The source of the information indicates that these devices are likely part of Huawei's product lineup. The company is reportedly exploring wide-screen flat-panel designs across multiple product lines, including potential mid-range models such as the nova series. However, there are currently no plans to introduce a wide-screen flat-panel device within the Mate series.

Huawei previously launched the Pura X View, which it markets as the world's first wide-screen flat-panel smartphone. Released on September 7, the device features a 6.39-inch display with a resolution of 2232x1320 and a 16:9.5 aspect ratio. The phone runs on the HarmonyOS 7 operating system and is powered by the Kirin 9030S processor, with a starting price of ¥5999.
