Huawei has integrated its HarmonyOS smart cockpit technology into an electric tricycle, marking the first time this system has been applied to a three-wheeled vehicle. The project is a collaboration with manufacturer Huaihai, which handles the design, development, and marketing of the vehicle, while Huawei serves as the technology provider.

The tricycle was presented at the 2026 HarmonyOS Ecosystem Conference in Shenzhen. It features a certificate confirming compatibility with the broader HarmonyOS ecosystem. The system supports complex voice commands, remote smartphone app integration, and connectivity with HarmonyOS-powered phones, allowing users to lock doors, track location, and run diagnostics.

While official pricing for the new model remains unannounced, similar enclosed electric tricycles in China typically retail for around $1 500. These vehicles are often equipped with 2,1 kWh batteries, providing a range of 30 to 50 km. The market for such transport has evolved as regulations now classify enclosed trikes as motorbikes.

The integration of smart cockpit features into budget-friendly transport reflects a broader trend in the Chinese automotive industry, where advanced digital functions are increasingly standard. Huawei and Huaihai are targeting the segment for short-distance community travel, aiming to capture demand from tech-oriented consumers in the three-wheeled vehicle market.
