China Southern Power Grid and Huawei signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen on October 27. The partnership focuses on developing new energy systems, power grids, and computing networks, specifically targeting the integration of electricity, carbon, and computing data.

The collaboration will prioritize artificial intelligence applications, the expansion of the Power HarmonyOS ecosystem, and the construction of industrial infrastructure. The companies aim to support the development of six major network types, including water, power, computing, communication, urban underground, and logistics networks.

Power HarmonyOS, the first domestic IoT operating system for the power industry, was launched in 2023. It allows for the integration of diverse power equipment brands, enabling plug-and-play functionality and data connectivity. In January, the system moved to an open-source community model.

By June, the Power HarmonyOS project was officially accepted into the Open Atom Foundation's incubation system. Additionally, Huawei and the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau recently deployed the world's first quantum-encrypted all-optical communication network for the energy sector.
