HIVE Digital Technologies has invested over $250 million into Tier 1 data centers in Paraguay over the past 18 months. The company's total financial commitments to these operations are reported to exceed $400 million, covering construction and energy procurement.

The infrastructure is powered by the Itaipu Dam, which has a total capacity of 14 GW. HIVE currently operates 300 MW of capacity across two sites in Valenzuela and Yguazu, generating approximately 8.5 BTC per day.

The company plans to expand the Yguazu site to a total capacity of 400 MW by the third quarter of 2026. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to reach a global Bitcoin mining hashrate of 35 EH/s by the end of 2026.

Beyond Bitcoin mining, HIVE is developing AI and high-performance computing services on the same infrastructure. The project has created more than 300 jobs and involved the hiring of 40 engineers under the local leadership of Gabriel Lamas.

The initiative began with the 2025 acquisition of a 200 MW site from Bitfarms. US State Department official Christopher Landau noted that the project could represent the largest foreign private investment in the history of Paraguay.
