Haval is currently evaluating the future of its M6 crossover production at the PSMA plant in the Kaluga region. The company is considering options ranging from a complete discontinuation of the model to a restyling or its replacement with a more profitable vehicle. These discussions are reportedly taking place between Haval and MGC Group.
The potential shift in strategy is linked to the lack of state subsidies for the Kaluga facility under the Ministry of Industry and Trade's localization requirements. To receive full compensation for the recycling fee, manufacturers must meet specific point thresholds: 1500 points in 2025, 2000 points in 2026, and 2567 points in 2027. Without these incentives, producing the budget-friendly model may become financially unviable.
Production of the Haval M6 in Kaluga began in the winter of 2025 using pre-assembled kits, transitioning to a full cycle of welding and painting by July. In 2025, the plant produced 24 500 vehicles. The M6 is currently the second most affordable Haval model in Russia, featuring a 1.5-liter engine with 143 horsepower, available with either a manual transmission or a dual-clutch gearbox.
