Elon Musk announced that the Grok Bot platform is shifting from its exclusive reliance on proprietary Grok models to a multi-model architecture. The system will now dynamically select the most suitable backend model based on the specific requirements of a user task.

The platform plans to integrate various third-party APIs to optimize performance across different domains. This includes utilizing models such as Claude Opus 5.5 for text processing, as well as specialized tools like Midjourney for image generation and Suno for audio tasks.

Launched in beta in August 2026, Grok Bot functions as a persistent AI agent designed to perform multi-step operations on cloud-based virtual machines. It maintains access to browsers, file systems, and terminals, allowing it to execute background tasks independently even when the user is offline.

Users interact with these agents through text, voice, or calls, assigning specific roles and duties to each instance. The system is designed to handle complex workflows autonomously, requesting human intervention only when critical judgment or final approval is required.
