Google has officially launched the Googlebook laptop line in partnership with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Pre-orders are currently open, with retail availability scheduled for October 4. The devices are priced between $899 and $1,299.
Each Googlebook includes a 12-month Google AI Pro subscription, 5TB of cloud storage, and three-month trials for YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and CapCut. Google has committed to providing system updates for these laptops for up to 10 years.
The hardware lineup features diverse designs, including a 1.0 kg model from Asus and a 15.3-inch display option from Lenovo. Select models are equipped with HDMI ports, fingerprint sensors, and facial recognition technology. Storage capacities reach up to 1TB.
The operating system integrates Android-like widgets and app menus with ChromeOS elements. Key features include cross-device synchronization with Android phones, allowing users to run mobile apps and access files directly on the laptop.
The devices utilize the Gemini Nano v3 AI model for on-device file searching and summarization. Additionally, the Magic Pointer feature allows users to query the Gemini chatbot regarding specific content displayed on the screen.
