Google has updated its AI world model, Genie 3, which generates interactive 3D environments with physics simulations based on text or image prompts. The system operates at a resolution of 720p and a frame rate of up to 24 frames per second.

The consumer product, Project Genie, launched on January 29, 2026, requiring a Google AI Ultra subscription and initially restricted to the United States. Following the announcement, Take-Two Interactive shares fell by 8–10% to $220.30, while Unity Software shares dropped by 21–24% to $29.10.

Market analysts initially identified limitations in the prototype, specifically regarding short session lengths and simplistic controls. They concluded that the tool could not currently replace traditional game engines for immersive experiences.

Throughout 2026, Google integrated Street View into the model in May and established a partnership with Unity in October for text-prompt game creation. These subsequent updates did not trigger the same market volatility as the initial January announcement.
