Google has officially begun phasing out the Google Assistant voice assistant on Android devices. The company initiated the transition last month by notifying users via email, and many Android owners now report that the service is no longer functional on their smartphones.
Recent user reports indicate that the option to switch back to Google Assistant has been removed from the Gemini application account menu. This change specifically affects mobile devices and associated accessories, including smartwatches, Android Auto, and headphones.
Despite the transition, Google confirmed that Google Assistant will remain available on other hardware platforms. Smart speakers and smart displays are excluded from this update and will continue to support the legacy voice assistant service as before.
