Google has released an update for its Maps application, specifically targeting the iPhone Duo foldable device. The new version, 26.44.4, enables full-screen display support for both the internal and external screens of the smartphone, improving the overall interface layout.
The internal screen now utilizes the expanded horizontal space to display menus and search bars on the left, while the map or satellite imagery occupies the remaining area. This layout mimics the tablet-optimized version of the app, significantly increasing the visible map surface.
Street View mode has also been updated to take advantage of the dual-screen form factor. The system now displays the Street View imagery on the left half of the internal screen, while the right side shows a map overview. Users can transition Street View from the internal to the external screen by folding the device.
Despite these improvements, the current version has some limitations. Users cannot swap the positions of the Street View and map windows, nor can they expand Street View to cover the entire internal display. The updated Google Maps is available for download on the App Store.
