AT&T has integrated Google’s Gemini for Home into its Connected Life security platform. This update makes the system the first home security product to utilize Google Home Premium features, allowing users to leverage AI for monitoring their properties.
The new functionality enables users to generate summaries of daily home activities and receive detailed descriptions of events captured by security cameras. For instance, the system can identify package deliveries and count the number of items left at the door.
Users can now perform natural language searches within their recorded video history to find specific events. Additionally, the update introduces an automation feature that arms or disarms the security system based on the user's proximity to the home.
These AI-powered capabilities are exclusive to subscribers of the AT&T professional Connected Life monitoring plan, which costs $29.99 per month. The service was originally launched in December in collaboration with Google and Abode.
The integration utilizes Google’s Gemini-powered Home APIs, which are designed to help developers and smart home brands incorporate artificial intelligence into their hardware. Competitor ADT has also signaled plans to adopt similar Gemini features.
