Google has introduced new agentic tools for retailers to improve product discovery during the holiday season. The company added AI performance insights to its Merchant Center for businesses in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the U.S. This feature allows brands to compare their share of voice within AI Overviews and AI Mode.
The company is also updating its Universal Commerce Protocol integration hub. Merchants can now enable cart transfers to their own websites and perform enhanced checkout flow testing. These features are currently rolling out in the U.S., with expansion to Australia and Canada scheduled for early 2027.
Data from PYMNTS Intelligence indicates that 39 million U.S. adults have shifted to AI-driven product discovery, representing 15% of the adult population. In total, 139 million Americans have used artificial intelligence to make retail purchases. Research shows 24% of consumers would allow an AI agent to shop for them.
