Google has initiated testing of a new feature called Dive Deeper within the Discover news feed on Android devices. This tool generates AI-powered summaries for content, allowing users to explore topics without leaving the application or visiting original publisher websites.
The functionality operates similarly to the company's AI Overviews feature in search. Instead of directing users to the source article or video page, the system provides a condensed overview created by artificial intelligence. Google claims this approach simplifies content consumption and related information discovery.
Currently, the testing phase primarily focuses on video content. The company plans to expand the scope of Dive Deeper to include additional content types and explore new design variations for displaying these AI-generated summaries in the coming weeks.
