Google Cloud introduced Gemini Agent at the Gemini at Work 2026 conference. The tool is designed as a universal work agent for enterprise clients, integrating with Gemini Enterprise, Workspace, and third-party services.
The agent performs tasks based on user goals, including answering queries, managing knowledge-based work, generating media content, and writing code. It functions as both a personal assistant and a team member, capable of taking on roles like project manager or financial analyst.
The system currently supports Gemini and Claude models, with plans to add compatibility for various open and closed-source models in the future. Google will provide an API for developers to integrate the agent into third-party applications.
Gemini Agent is currently in private preview. The company expects to roll out the service to eligible Workspace customers, specifically those on select Business and Enterprise plans, in the near future.
