Google has initiated a software update for Pixel Buds 2A and Pro 2 models, introducing several new functional capabilities. The rollout follows an initial announcement made by the company in August.
A key addition is sleep detection, which integrates with Pixel Watch. When the wearable device detects that the user has fallen asleep, the earbuds automatically pause audio playback, mute incoming notifications, and disable touch controls.
Users can now utilize a tap-to-mute function for microphones during phone calls, provided they are using a Pixel smartphone. Additionally, live translation can be triggered with a single tap on the earbuds.
New voice commands powered by Gemini allow users to manage active noise cancellation settings, adjust the equalizer, and toggle touch controls. These features are available on both the Buds 2A and Pro 2 models.
The update also introduces Dynamic ANC exclusively for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This feature automatically modifies audio output and noise cancellation levels based on the quality of the earbud seal in the user's ear.
Google initially indicated in a community forum post that most features would reach the original Pixel Buds Pro, but later removed these references. The company has not yet provided further clarification on this change.
