Google has initiated a software update for its Pixel Watch lineup, specifically targeting models 3, 4, and 5. The new features provide users with insights into blood pressure trends, sleep respiration, and indicators of insulin resistance without requiring invasive medical procedures.

The insulin resistance analysis tracks metabolic health changes based on physiological data collected over several weeks. Google clarifies that this tool is not a glucose monitor. It requires at least seven days of data per month to function and relies on a large-scale model trained on over 1 trillion minutes of data from 5 million study participants.

The blood pressure feature does not perform direct measurements. Instead, it monitors heart rate and physical activity patterns over a month to identify potential cardiovascular issues. Additionally, the update enhances sleep tracking capabilities by providing more detailed monitoring of breathing patterns, which can assist in detecting sleep apnea.
